An incredibly warm review has come in from the good folks at Out in Jersey, and they had lovely things to say about David Foubert’s interpretation of the iconic weaver-turned-donkey Nick Bottom in this Shakespearean classic reimagined for a winter setting:
“All right, here it is: The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey’s production of A Midwinter Night’s Dream is the funniest damn Dream I’ve ever seen!
…”The familiar tale of mismatched lovers, lunatic amateur actors, and mischievous fairies is brought to life by a marvelous troupe of farceurs and comics. Chief among these is David Foubert’s over-the-top Nick Bottom, an ass of a man whose head is conjured into that of an ass by Billie Wyatt’s giggling, prancing Puck.”
